Questions Worth Asking Yourself

When Was the Last Time You Checked on Yourself?

Most people know when their car needs maintenance. They know when the oil needs changing or when a tire needs replacing. Yet many of us go years without checking on ourselves. When was the last time you visited your primary care provider? Do you know your blood pressure? Have you had routine blood work completed recently? What about your cholesterol, blood sugar, Vitamin D, or Vitamin B12 levels?

When was your last eye exam? How is your sleep? How is your stress level?

Our bodies often send warning signs long before they send alarms. Paying attention to those signs is not selfish. It is responsible. Taking care of your health allows you to be present for the people and experiences that matter most.

What Does Your Family Story Tell You?

Family history can reveal important clues about our future health and well-being. Conditions such as diabetes, heart disease, high blood pressure, certain cancers, anxiety, and depression often run in families. While genetics do not guarantee outcomes, they can help us understand risks and make informed choices.

Family history extends beyond medicine. Sometimes we notice personality traits, habits, talents, and mannerisms passed from one generation to another. Understanding where we come from helps us better understand ourselves. Knowledge is not something to fear. Knowledge allows us to prepare, adapt, and make healthier decisions.

Whose Stress Are You Carrying?

Stress has become so common that many people assume it is simply part of life. But not all stress is yours.

Some people spend years carrying the burdens of friends, family members, coworkers, and situations they cannot control. They worry constantly, hoping that worry itself will solve the problem. It rarely does. Worry is not action. Action creates change.

\

Ask yourself honestly:

What stress belongs to me?

What stress belongs to someone else?

What can I control?

What must I learn to release?

Learning the difference can protect your peace of mind and improve your overall health. Are You Existing or Truly Living? This may be the most important question of all. Are you merely existing, or are you truly living the best life you can? Life changes. Circumstances change. Health changes. Sometimes our abilities change. Yet even during difficult seasons, there are still opportunities to find meaning, purpose, and joy.

You may not be able to do everything you once did. That does not mean your life has ended.

Perhaps your joy comes from writing, reading, creating, gardening, talking with friends, watching a favorite show, spending time with family, enjoying a meal out, or simply sitting outside and appreciating a quiet afternoon.

Do not measure your life by what you have lost. Measure it by what still brings you purpose. You deserve more than survival. You deserve moments that make you smile.

What Advice Would You Give Your Best Friend?

Imagine your best friend came to you carrying the same struggles, fears, worries, and frustrations you carry every day. What would you tell them? Would you encourage them to rest? Would you remind them to take care of their health? Would you tell them they deserve compassion? Would you encourage them not to give up?

Many of us offer wisdom to others while refusing to accept it ourselves. Perhaps it is time to listen to the advice you would gladly give someone you love.

Have You Written It Down?

Sometimes our thoughts become tangled because they never leave our minds. Try writing them down. Keep a journal. Write yourself a letter. Create a list. Describe your fears, goals, frustrations, and hopes.

When thoughts remain trapped inside our minds, they often become overwhelming. Putting them on paper allows us to organize, examine, and better understand them. You may discover solutions you never noticed before. You may discover strengths you forgot you had.

Final Reflection

The quality of our lives is often shaped by the questions we are willing to ask ourselves. Honest reflection can reveal areas where we need healing, growth, rest, boundaries, or change. It can also remind us of the blessings, strengths, and opportunities that still exist in our lives.

Take time to check on yourself. Take time to care for yourself. Most importantly, remember that your life is not meant to be spent merely surviving. You deserve to live it with purpose, hope, and gratitude for as long as you are here.

Affirmation

I deserve the same care and compassion I give to others. I will choose awareness, peace, and purpose. I am living my life, not merely existing within it.
