Katrina's Letter For You!

Greetings!
First and foremost, I appreciate you visiting Unspoken Horizons. My name is Katrina Case, and I am the creator of Unspoken Horizons, where I share original content, including captivating images and engaging stories. I have authored over 30 books across fiction and nonfiction genres, and have over 20 books as audiobooks. Originally from Mississippi, the state known for famous writers. I grew up as the only child of Shirley and David Taylor. I lost my father to a stroke in January 2000, I cherish the memories of my upbringing. I am also a proud mother to two adult sons, David and Nathan, and share my home with two gray tabby cats, Ella and her playful son, Ezra.
I've always been enchanted by books. I fondly recall those Saturday morning grocery trips, where I would excitedly pick out a new book from the store. School library visits were another highlight, almost rivaling the thrill of our annual book fairs. I’m grateful to my parents for those cherished memories. It's funny to think about the cliché of the "good old days," yet life has a way of bringing us back to what we love most.
I had a strong dislike for high school, yet I graduated with decent grades, surprisingly without much studying. I knew I wanted to go to college, initially considering psychology and medicine, but eventually I settled on nursing. In May 2003, I graduated with a nursing degree. First, I worked at a local hospital, then began travel nursing, which took me across the country to work in six facilities. My life changed drastically when I was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis in August 2006. Instead of giving up, I returned to school to pursue a Master of Science in Nursing Education (MSN-Ed) and aim to teach nursing. Although I never became a formal instructor, I found fulfilling opportunities in tutoring and leading educational groups. Looking back, I recognize that it’s not about what I did before; it’s about the meaningful actions I take now.
My thoughts and actions have always focused on one heartfelt goal: to make a positive impact on others' lives. This goal drives me, especially in a world filled with stress, anxiety, and burnout. We grieve not just for those we've lost but also for parts of ourselves that feel missing.
Unspoken Horizons is a website created to empower individuals in their journey of healing and self-discovery. I hope you find inspiration and support in everything this site has to offer!
Kindly and sincerely,
Katrina Case, MSN-Ed., RN
